According to the Caravan Industry Association of Australia in the year ending March 2019 Australians spent a total of 54.5 million nights caravan and camping, marking a 6.5% increase from the previous year.
The total number of caravan trips came to 12.9 million, an increase of 8.5% from the previous year with older non-working ‘grey nomads’ leading the way. That’s not news to the caravan industry but what is interesting is that these grey nomads are baby boomers who have a mindset and the necessary skills acquired over many years to perform basic repairs.
With this in mind it is a good opportunity to introduce them to a range of products they can take on their journey to fix any problems they may encounter when far from home, or far from civilisation.
JB Weld has a range of 57 products from epoxies, syringes, putty sticks, silicones, thread lockers and repair kits that can provide peace of mind on a long trip. These are ideal products for repairs to metal, plastic, plumbing, glass, wood and many other surfaces, not just because they are a quick solution, but because they are a permanent solution.
As an example, one of JB Weld’s best-known products is JB Weld Epoxy which is used as an alternative to welding, soldering or brazing. This two-part epoxy resin forms a compound as tough as steel and with similar properties. It can be used as an adhesive, laminate, plug filler, sealant or electrical insulator and can be formed, drilled, ground, tapped, machined, filled, sanded and painted.
It sets in 4-6 hours and cures fully in 15-24 hours which in caravan terms is a wayside stop, and it is waterproof, petroleum, chemical, and acid-resistant; resists shock, vibration and temperature variations.
This is a super strong, non-toxic epoxy that cleans up with soap and water before setting and bonds almost any combination of iron, steel, copper, aluminium, brass, bronze, glass, PVC & ABS, concrete, fibreglass, wood and fabric; in fact, just about any porous and non-porous material.
Another fantastic product to take on road trip is JB Weld WaterWeld epoxy putty which will repairunderwater cracks in almost anything. It will fix a water tank (drinking water safe), fuel tank, shower and much more, plus it will set under water.
If you find a hole in a fuel tank, clean up around the hole then press WaterWeld in place and it will set in 15-25 minutes and be rock-hard in one hour.
What is also convenient for caravaners is that most JB Weld products come in small packages that can be easily stored in a toolbox or storage compartments and all come with detailed and easy to follow instructions.
JB Weld is a brand that has built its fine reputation on manufacturing high quality products that are found in every trade workshop.
